July 18 - 23, 2021
REGISTRATION FOR 2021 IS NOW CLOSED.
Having both been involved in attending and teaching at genealogical research institutes, Kathryn Lake Hogan and Christine Woodcock recognized this was still an underdeveloped area for Canadian genealogy researchers. And so, an idea was born, the Canadian Genealogical Virtual Research Intensive. Wanting to reach as many people as possible, our courses are all hosted and presented virtually.
What is a Virtual Genealogical Intensive?
A virtual genealogical intensive is like a genealogical research institute. A genealogical institute differs from a conference on a number of levels. It is a week-long course with in-depth learning on a given topic. It's similar to attending classes in-person. CGVRI classes are presented live; they will not be recorded. Students are expected to dedicate the necessary time to attending their course, just as you would if you were spending a week at a research institute held at a college, hotel or learning retreat.
Each course is limited to 36 students.
Spaces are allocated on a first come, first served basis.
What Make Us Different?
Our focus is on topics that are of interest to anyone researching their Canadian ancestors. In putting these courses together for 2021, we have the interest and support of genealogists who live in Canada! Canada really does have some of the finest genealogical researchers and speakers. We are delighted to be able to showcase their talents during CGVRI 2021.
